"You do not get an A in life for just showing up and complying or even for cooperating. You get an A for adding to the experience, for giving, for risking, for showing enthusiasm, for adding life."

Dear parents and students,
Welcome to El Capitan High School! I look forward to spending time with you, helping you grow, and learning from your valuable contributions. My class is designed to prepare you for future courses and college. We will approach writing as a process, connect to personal and real-world experiences, expand our vocabulary, analyze literature, and find books that you enjoy reading! Students are expected to view this webpage daily for assignments, due dates, supplemental materials, and guidance for anything they may have missed while absent or need more help with. I can be easily contacted through email if further instruction is needed. Students are held responsible and EXPECTED to be in charge of their academic success in this class. I am beginning my tenth year in the classroom (eighth year at this campus). My BA in English is from Chico State, where I met my husband. It was exciting when he said he was from Merced, as I am from the nearby city of Modesto. I've lived here for 17 years and have two beautiful daughters. Teaching the art of literature is my dream job, and I'm incredibly blessed to be a Gaucho. It's going to be a great year! Mrs. Schneider |
